Hi everybody, i have a focus 1.4 2000, everything is good with this car, i use it almost 1 year and never got any problem.i filled up the tank full 2 weeks ago and today its 620 km and tank light is on.i drove in-city and sometimes highways.u know, just to go work and go back to home from zaandam to amsterdam.sometimes to shop, to beach, etc.is this normal or my focus use more than normal? I dont know how much liter takes my tank but i think 55lt. if it's so; 1lt / 11,2km. Dont u think its a bit high for a 1,4 lt car? Or what should i do to drive it longer distance with less fuel? thanks lot...
no it;s not normal, it should use more ( big rims ) the engine has to work @ his max for the focus, a 1.6 or a 1.8 are more fuel efficient if you drive the way you drive the 1.4
Yes, you've got a 55 ltr. and if your car is standard, it will be, by normal use, 1:15, your rims will make your car use more fuel. But be aware that when your fuellight light up, you've still have about 8 liters reserve in your tank, so you have used about 47 ltr. at 620 km, that makes a use of 1:13.2...that sounds a lot better
I Wish my 1.6 16v had those usage figures.... I`m doing 1/8-9. So don`t worry about the 1/11 of your fofo. It can do a lot worse.
thats not normal If i am very careful with the throtlle, i can make that figure in my ST. Looks there is something wrong here. John
i would be verry happy if my focus 1.4 could ride 620km with, normally if i drive pretty normal i would get 520 max but most of the time i am driving in high gear to get some speed and would be ale to drive max 450
Mine 1.8 uses up to the point light is coming up nearly 600 kilometers.That's about 1:12. in my case this is normal.
